John Deere Technician Program & Diesel Technician Program
AHW makes a substantial contribution to the training and development of young students who are interested in the diesel technology field. By partnering with area universities that have diesel technology programs, AHW frequently sponsors students throughout their schooling. Most of these programs are two-year associate degrees requiring internships or sponsoring dealerships for onsite learning. The most popular partnership happens to be with a John Deere Ag Tech Program at Lake Land College, in Mattoon, IL. The John Deere Technician program is a great tool for AHW to develop well-trained, entry-level technicians, but AHW also makes a great investment in students and their futures.
John Deere Military Career Skills Program (CSP)
Working for a John Deere dealership is bigger than just a job. It's Growth in oneself, on a path to greater accomplishment. It's Pride in your community, from the first neighbor you serve to supporting the next local business that opens. It's Knowing that what you do helps to feed and shelter the world. It starts with YOU. Starting HERE. Starting NOW! Welcome to your new Mission!
Continuing Education & JDU
AHW has created an environment that welcomes continuing education and training. Our most popular form of training comes from a John Deere portal called John Deere University (JDU). JDU offers our employees an opportunity to continue their training throughout their career in multiple platforms and accommodates many different learning styles. Web-based training, distance learning with an instructor and a large group of other dealers, classroom settings, and independent study opportunities are just some of the ways that JDU helps dealerships like AHW train and develop our employees. Our corporate manager group also hosts internal training opportunities each year. Safety training is another priority for AHW. Monthly meetings and a library of topics are shared with all employees.
High School Partners
AHW has worked to partner with area High Schools and Vocational programs to help and encourage students who have a passion for a trade. We employ students in diesel/automotive programs, welding, and work-based learning opportunities for students who want hands-on, real work application to their area of interest. Most of these students continue through a technician program, but AHW will welcome students out of high school who are ready to start their full-time careers as well.
