It is with heavy hearts that we honor and remember Larry Head, a remarkable man whose dedication to his family, faith, and John Deere was unparalleled. Larry was more than an employee at AHW—he was a cornerstone of our team, a mentor, and a cherished friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Larry’s connection to John Deere ran deep, with a family legacy that spanned over 100 years of experience. His father, David, began his career with Deere as a young man and worked for the company for 39 years, leaving an indelible mark as a parts depot manager. He instilled in Larry a love for the green and yellow and the values of hard work, loyalty, and pride in one’s craft.
What began as a summer job at a dealership in DeKalb, IL, blossomed into a lifelong passion for Larry. His dedication to the agricultural industry led him to Goodrich Equipment in Annawan, IL, and later to Heaths of Monticello, a pivotal move sparked by meeting the love of his life. It was in Monticello that Larry and his wife built a beautiful life together, raising two daughters, Davi and Audrey, and calling the community home for the past 31 years.
Larry’s career was built on the foundation of unwavering faith, humility, and a relentless work ethic. He wasn’t one to seek the spotlight. Instead, he kept his head down, focused on the task at hand, and worked tirelessly to serve others. Whether he was working as a parts rep, parts manager, or most recently, one of AHW’s corporate parts managers, Larry was known for his exceptional expertise and his unshakeable commitment to doing what was right.
Larry was a man of faith, and his faith-filled life was evident in every action. He was deeply rooted in his beliefs, and his faith guided the way he worked and interacted with others. His colleagues will remember his quiet strength, the way he led by example, and the steady hand he offered to those around him. Gary Huisinga shared it best: “Larry took great pride in knowing his craft and serving customers, not caring what time of day or night it was. It is difficult to find people like Larry anymore.”
Though Larry was often quiet about his own accomplishments, he was never shy about celebrating the successes of others, especially his family. His daughters were the pride of his life, and he spoke of them with boundless love and admiration. Larry's family wasn’t just a part of his life—they were his world.
Outside of work, Larry embraced life's simple pleasures: reading, woodworking, and cheering on his beloved Green Bay Packers. He was a devoted supporter of the Geneseo Green Machine and had a deep appreciation for history. But above all, Larry’s heart was forever tied to the green and yellow—whether it was for his Packers or the John Deere legacy he cherished so deeply.
Larry leaves behind not only a legacy of professional excellence but also an enduring impact on all who knew him. He taught us to take pride in our work, to cherish our families, and to approach life with unwavering faith and compassion.
To Larry’s wife, daughters, and all who cherished him, our hearts go out to you. Larry’s kindness, dedication, and unwavering spirit touched us all. We are better for having known him and profoundly grateful for his 49 years of service to John Deere, AHW, and the countless lives he impacted along the way.
Larry, your legacy will live on in every field, every part, and every heart you touched.
