Celebrating the Retirement of Jeff Ponder: A Legacy of Dedication, Family, and Hard Work
After 28 remarkable years of service, we bid a fond farewell to Jeff Ponder as he officially steps into retirement from our AHW Crawfordsville location. While we’re sad to see him go, we’re filled with immense gratitude for the legacy he leaves behind—a legacy built on hard work, integrity, and unwavering dedication to both his profession and his values.
Jeff’s story is rooted in the soil of Fountain County, where he grew up surrounded by agriculture. After earning a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Purdue University, Jeff and his wife spent time in Kentucky, managing a cattle operation and welcoming their two daughters. Eventually, they returned home to Indiana to put down long-term roots—raising cattle and, in Jeff’s case, planting the seeds of what would become a decades-long career with our team.
Back then, the dealership was known as Wright Implement. Jeff applied, got the job, and never looked back. Over the years, he wore many hats: from parts clerk to parts manager, even serving as a bulk oil delivery driver—CDL and all. No matter the title, Jeff was known for his work ethic and reliability. Most mornings, he’d arrive at the store by 4:30 a.m., often after already finishing up chores on the farm. That kind of drive is something you just can’t teach.
Jeff was known for keeping things organized—especially when it came to inventory. In true Jeff fashion, he didn’t let his final day go by without completing 207 cycle counts. It was a fitting example of his attention to detail and his belief in doing things the right way, every time.
But beyond the numbers and job titles, Jeff’s biggest impact was always in the relationships he built. He earned the trust of customers and coworkers alike, becoming a steady presence in a fast-moving industry. He lived every day by the same values he shared when asked for parting advice:
“Nothing is more important than your family. Let that guide you in your career.”
Now, as Jeff turns the page to a well-deserved retirement, he’ll stay plenty busy—running his hoof trimming business, caring for his cattle, and cherishing time with his grandchildren. Through it all, he remains focused on the things that have always mattered most to him: faith and family.
Jeff, thank you for nearly three decades of loyalty, mentorship, and heart. You’ve made a lasting impact on AHW and the many lives you’ve touched along the way. We wish you all the best in this next chapter—and hope it’s filled with joy, peace, and plenty of time in the pasture.
