A Legacy of Loyalty: Celebrating Karl Tirevold’s 48 Years of Service

Aug. 4 2025 News By AHW LLC
After nearly 48 years of unwavering service and dedication, Karl Tirevold is hanging up his AHW hat and heading into a well-earned retirement. Since first stepping through the doors in November 1977, Karl has left a lasting mark on our Somonauk location—and across the company.
Karl began his journey as an after-school stock boy. What started as a simple job quickly grew into a lifelong commitment. Over the years, Karl worked as a parts rep, parts manager, corporate parts manager, and eventually store manager—rising through the ranks with quiet dedication and a deep care for customers and coworkers alike.
When asked about his proudest moments, Karl puts it simply: “Turning this townie into a parts guy and being able to do it for almost 48 years.”
While Karl has worked with many great teams, it’s the customers he’ll miss the most: “I’ve met and worked with so many. Those relationships are what I’ll miss most.”
The industry has changed dramatically since Karl started—gone are the days of handwritten index cards for daily sales. Technology has revolutionized how we work, but Karl’s steady, people-first approach has remained constant. As he puts it, “There’s been more technology in the past 10–15 years than in the previous 20.”
To those just starting out, his advice is simple but timeless: “Be patient. Ask questions. Treat every customer like you’d want to be treated.”
As he steps into retirement, Karl is looking forward to golf, travel, home projects, and cheering on his nieces and nephews in sports. But more than anything, he’ll carry with him the friendships and memories made over the years—many sparked by a broken John Deere and a helping hand behind the counter.
Karl, your legacy here won’t be forgotten. Thank you for your years of service, leadership, and the genuine care you’ve shown to everyone who walked through the doors. We wish you all the best in your next chapter—you’ve certainly earned it.
